Successful Delivery of Boarding Accommodation Furniture for Wrekin College
In the summer of 2024, Witley Jones Furniture successfully delivered a bespoke Boarding House refurbishment project for Wrekin College’s Bayley House, the Boys’ Day and Boarding House. The project involved designing, manufacturing and installing over 50 bespoke bedsets, showcasing the advantages of early planning and professional project management.
Early Collaboration and Planning
The project’s success stemmed from early engagement between the team at Wrekin College, our team and the building contractors. Site meetings and design discussions commenced in late 2023, leading to an early order placement. This proactive approach enabled the school to secure fixed pricing, effectively manage budgets, and reserve preferred delivery and installation slots. As a result, the furniture installation was completed two weeks before the end of the summer holidays, providing ample time for final preparations before the new academic year.
Efficient Manufacturing and Storage
Production of the bespoke boarding accommodation furniture began in early 2024. Once complete, the items were stored in our warehousing facility, ready for delivery according to the project plan. This ensured seamless alignment with the broader refurbishment timeline.
Concurrent Project Management
The Bayley House refurbishment ran alongside a Science Laboratory project elsewhere on the school estate. Our installation team worked efficiently across both sites, adjusting schedules based on access and project progress. Regular coordination meetings with building contractors and electricians ensured smooth progress and timely completion.
Modular and Flexible Furniture Design
The furniture was designed with a modular approach, allowing for easy reconfiguration and maintenance. Key features included desks with an overhang at the back to accommodate additional wiring or sockets, mitigating potential design risks. This practical, forward-thinking approach made the furniture versatile and future-proof for the school’s evolving needs.
