Witley Jones continue long-term working relationship with Shrewsbury School
Last summer, Witley Jones collaborated with Shrewsbury School on a comprehensive range of bespoke fitted furniture projects across the school’s estate, including over 100 bespoke boarding accommodation bed sets.
Having worked with Shrewsbury School for over 10 years, Witley Jones were delighted to support the school in delivering a major modernisation and development project of both new and refurbished boarding accommodation provision.
Shrewsbury School open Queen Elizabeth Hall
With growing demand and increased admissions at Shrewsbury School, they opened their fifth girls boarding house, Queen Elizabeth Hall, in September 2023.
We manufactured and installed 60 bespoke bed sets, using the school’s modern design and layout, to create a functional and aesthetically pleasing homely environment.
The project involved close coordination with Pave Aways Ltd, the school’s appointed contractors, to seamlessly integrate the bespoke fitted furniture into the new spaces. We also manufactured and installed soft furnishings, bench sets, study room furniture and a custom 32-unit charging cabinet, enhancing the overall functionality of the accommodation.
New Bed Sets to upgrade Boarding Accommodation
In response to specific requirements directly from the school, we supplied an additional 30 bespoke bed sets which our team installed across the boarding houses where upgrades were required. This truly demonstrated our flexibility in catering to the school’s unique needs and ensuring a tailored solution for each area.
Each bed set comprised of a metal framed bed for ease of movement, a wardrobe, a desk and seating as well as lockable storage, pin board and coat hooks.
Furthermore, we also supported Morris & Co during the refurbishment of Ingram’s Hall, a boy’s boarding house, manufacturing and installing more than 50 bed sets.
Day Boarding Lockers
As part of the summer works, Witley Jones also designed and manufactured 200 new day boarding lockers which were installed in a variety of locations across the school estate. These lockers provided additional storage for the increased intake of day pupils, offering a secure space for them to store their belongings during the day, contributing to a more organised and efficient environment.
“We are thoroughly impressed with the exceptional quality of the bespoke furniture provided by Witley Jones. The ease of working with their team and the skilled installation within the project timeframe exceeded our expectations.
“Simon and his team provided a single point of contact throughout the project, ensuring seamless communication and coordination across a number of locations on the school estate. Their commitment to professionalism and efficiency was evident in the successful execution of the project.”
